TLAHUIZCALPANTECUHTLI

Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli

The supreme goal that the initiate in the teachings of Quetzalcóatl must achieve is the state of Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli, the one who becomes the dwelling of light (Lord of the House of Dawn), the state of the Feathered Serpent or the Absolute. This supreme state is achieved by creating the body of light and awakening spiritual consciousness:

  1. The creation of the body of light

To achieve the creation of the body of light, Toltequidad explains that an alchemical transmutation process must be carried out with the energy located at the base of the spinal column. Through various psychophysical practices such as stable postures (semka) and movements (molini), hand gestures (machiomana), dance (mitotl), martial arts (yayaotl), breathing exercises (I´mati) to manipulate prana (tleyotl), and primarily through sexual practices (yontlapalli) aimed at merging masculine and feminine energies (sexual fluids), the “burnt water” (atlachinolli) is produced in the “vessel of the eagle” (kuau’shikalli) located at the base of the trunk. In other words, the activated energy or internal fire, when generated, rises like steam from water through the body, awakening the seven psychic centers or cuecueyos (kolotl, scorpion, iwitl, plumage, pantli, banner, shochitl, flower, topilli, staff, chalchiwitl, precious stone, and tekpatl, flint knife) from the base of the trunk until it exits through the crown, creating “the feather”: the luminous appendix that ultimately completes the creation of the body of light and leads to the awakening of spiritual consciousness and, ultimately, the awareness of unity with the Absolute.

  1. The awakening of spiritual consciousness

Nican axcan are the Nahuatl words that describe the awakening of spiritual consciousness. Nican means “here,” and axcan means “now”: here and now. The word nican is used to refer to the location of the person speaking, while axcan expresses the present moment of the speaker. This implies that the “here and now” belongs to the speaker.

Nican axcan, therefore, refers to the time and space of each individual; it is the self-awareness of the reality of each person, their own being or self, their general environment, and each moment of their becoming. In this context, the evolution of the human being can be defined as the continuous expansion of consciousness (awareness) in the here and now of each human being.

In addition to the sustained practice of nican axcan, Toltequidad also proposes the practice of meditation (teomania), which leads to the state of perfect mental silence (amomati) or inner emptiness that ultimately results in the conscious union of the human being with divinity or the full consciousness of Quetzalcóatl, the Feathered Serpent.
