THE MASEWALLI AWAKENS HIS CONSCIENCE

The awakening of spiritual consciousness in toltequidad of mesoamerica

Nikan axkan are the Nahuatl words that describe the awakening of spiritual consciousness. Nikan means “here,” and axkan means “now”: here and now. The word nikan is used to refer to the location of the person speaking, while axkan expresses the present moment of the speaker. This implies that the “here and now” belongs to the speaker. Nikan axkan, therefore, refers to the time and space of each individual; it is the self-awareness of the reality of each person, their own being or self, their general environment, and each moment of their becoming. In this context, the evolution of the human being can be defined as the continuous expansion of consciousness (awareness) in the here and now of each human being.

From the aforementioned perspective, both the ordinary human being and children in general are considered “children” who are solely determined by the collective, from the outside. To attain the “adult” state, it is necessary to progressively and extensively develop consciousness in the nikan axkan, in the here and now. Only human beings who achieve this can be called “adults” and have an influence on the collective, on the external. Therefore, in order to bring about a true change in humanity, it is necessary for many “adults” to emerge within a given generation who will propel it.

Undoubtedly, the human being is an individual and a species: what one person does, whether mentally, verbally, or physically, affects the community, and likewise, what the community does, whether mentally, verbally, or physically, affects the individual.

That is why when a person awakens and becomes aware of their own being or self, the being of others, and the prevailing reality in the here and now, it inevitably contributes to others gaining this same awareness, and vice versa. When others awaken and become aware of their own being or selves, the being of others, and the prevailing reality in the here and now, it inevitably influences each individual in the collective. And only through this means, through the awakening of consciousness in the here and now, both in each particular individual and in the collective as a whole, can a true change be brought about in humanity as a whole.

In addition to the sustained practice of nikan axkan, Toltequidad also proposes the practice of meditation (teomania), which leads to the state of perfect mental silence (amomati) or inner emptiness that ultimately results in the conscious union of the human being with divinity or the full consciousness of Ketsalkoatl.
