SĀMA-VEDA Skt., the Veda of songs with which the udgātri (singer), one of the four chief priests at the sacrificial service, accompanies the preparation and offering of the soma sacrifice. The work comprises 1,549 verses, of which only 78 are not derived from the Rigveda.
