SHARIA or Islamic law, is the body of Islamic law that constitutes a detailed code of conduct for Muslims. It includes norms regarding modes of worship, criteria for “morality” and life, what is permitted or prohibited, and the rules that distinguish between what is considered good or evil. However, its identification with the religion is nuanced: although it is part of Islam, it is not a dogma or something indisputable, but rather subject to interpretations.
The word Sharia literally means “the path to peace,” guiding all activities during the journey for Muslims, including daily routines, family and religious obligations, and financial transactions. It is derived from the Quran and the Sunnah, which encompass the sayings, practices, and teachings of Muhammad.
