RĀJA-YOGA Skt., lit. “the royal yoga”; one of the four most important yogic paths toward union with God; its system is presented by Patañjali in his Yoga-Sūtra. (The term “Rāja-Yoga,” however, was conceived long after Patañjali ‘s time.)
Rāja-Yoga contains the following eight steps: yama, niyama, āsana, prānāyāma, dhārana, dhyāna and samādhi.
